Functional Pilates and Stretching - small group of 6
Mondays 7.30 - 8.30pm
£42 for a term of 6 classes. Requests for taster drop-in's welcome. Pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited. Please bring a towel, trainers suitable for a short aerobic warm up and choose comfortable clothing that allows free movement.
A combination of Pilates, functional exercises and stretching session, aimed at improving posture.
The classes involve detailed instruction with complete guidance on technique, suitable for Pilates-beginners of any age and fitness level. They are designed to provide you with the tools to transform your posture and body shape.
Functional Pilates is a unique step-by-step system of progressive exercises based on orthopaedics and biomechanical science. It is a targeted approach, which has been developed to solve postural problems and enable pain free, efficient movement. Increased muscle tone and improved body shape are some of the additional benefits.
Pilates practice involves controlled movement coordinated with the breath. You will learn how to lengthen and mobilise the spine whilst aligning and organising the head, neck and shoulders. Movement through the full range of motion in the joint will be practised as well as stabilising your pelvis and scapular during movements of arms and legs. The classes also include various stretches, which are often essential for postural correction. This will help significantly to relieve and prevent neck and lower and upper back tension and pain.
Taught by experienced Pilates and Fitness Instructor, currently studying for an additional Pilates-qualification with the International Pilates Organisation Polestar.

Based on orthopaedics and biomechanical principles Pilates is a step-by-step system of mind-body exercise, which improves posture and joint health. Regular Pilates practice develops a strong and supportive core, mobile joints and flexible muscles. The course focuses on establishing healthy movement throughout the whole body. When correct movement patterns are adopted and tension is released, the muscles can slowly return to balance. As a result, muscular strengthening and gaining flexibility happens very natural as a result of better movement throughout exercises. Through regular Pilates practice you will increase body awareness and learn to adopt better movement habits in everyday life and reduce pain and fatigue. You will receive a lot of explanations and learn exercises thoroughly. The course is designed to provide you with the tools to transform your posture and body shape.
The classes are taught by Ina Schoettling, professional and experienced Pilates and Fitness Instructor, currently studying for a second Pilates-qualification with the International Pilates Organisation Polestar. For more information please take a look at:http://www.polestarpilates.co.
